Alsager Hassall Green & Scholar Green

Distance: 19miles /30km
Route: Alsager - Lawton Heath End - Hasall Green - Spen Green - Brownlow Heath - Ackers Crossing - Scholar Green - Church Lawton - Alsager
Surface: Tarmac
Start: Alsager Railway Station Map: OS 118 (the Potteries)

Cycling north from the railway station towards the town centre, continue straight across the junction in the middle of the town such that you are heading out of Alsager along the B5078.
After passing the Wilbraham Arms and cycling through a gap in the old Salt Line, turn left down a narrow lane before the road you are on joins another.
This brings you to Hassall Green, home to the Romping Donkey where you should bear right and continue on past the now disused village school.
This soon brings you to a crossroads - carry straight on. This in turn brings you to another A-road, here you should again continue straight on.
The lane you now find yourself in will take you past a church, St John's, a recording studio and Blue Bell Inn in Spen Green. Shortly after passing some large commercial greenhouses, and immediately after cycling over the brow of a small hill, turn right to head down past the Brownlow Inn. This brings you to the A34, which you should turn left onto and then swiftly right off from, as soon as you have passed the garage.
Follow this lane up the hill, past Great Moreton Hall and over the canal at Ackers Crossing, such that you are in the shadow of Mow Cop.
As you join another road, turn right over the canal and then continue on down the hill into Scholar Green. Turning left onto the A34, make you way past the Rising Sun, the Traveller's Rest and the Bleeding Wolf until you find yourself dropping down to a set of traffic lights at which you should turn right.
Follow this road over the canal and then across the A5011, back into Alsager from there make you way back to the railway station.
