Cycle
from the outskirts of Liverpool to the coast south of Southport, following
the old Cheshire Lines railway across the West Lancashire Moss.
The
Route: Maghull (W of M58, Jct 1) to Ainsdale (S of Southport).
Distance:
10 miles one way, 20 miles both.
Start & Parking:
1.
Maghull, off the A59 to the north of the M57, Jct 7. The railway path starts
on a sharp right hand bend on the minor road which links the
A5147 with the
B5195.
2.
The railway station, Ainsdale, west of the A565 between Formby and Southport.
Follow Easdale Drive and Kendal Way to the start of the railway
path.
Surface & Hills:
Tarmac, stone / gravel one rough section near Ainsdale. No hills.
Roads & Road
Crossings: One busy crossing of the A565 in Ainsdale.
