This
is possibly the prettiest former railway path in the country with a stunning
destination: the lighthouse at Corbiere. The Walk - now used more by cyclists
than walkers - is lined in parts with palm trees and other exotic plants.
The
Route: From St aubin to the Corbiere lighthouse.
Distance:
3.5
miles one way, 7 miles both.
Start & Parking:
The start is next to St Aubin harbour, near Market Street, straight on
from the small Nat West bank. Parking is available in St Aubin and at various
car parks close to the promenade starting at St Helier. This promenade is
open
to cyclists (but watch out for the trackless tourist train!).
Surface & Hills:
Gravel path. There's a 2 mile climb from St Aubin to St Brelade
('traffic-calmed' to prevent you hitting terminal velocity on the way back).
Roads & Road
Crossings: Five minor road crossings.
Links
to other trails: There are no other truly traffic-free waymarked
routes on Jersey but the Corbiere Walk crosses many points of access on to
the
Green Lane network
where cars are discouraged with 15 mph speed restrictions.

Refreshments:
Plentry of pubs and cafes in St Aubin. Along the way is the Poplars tea
room. La Moye, st Brelade (Tel: 01534 421184). This is in a farmhouse owned
by
the Bissan family since 1690. Coming back from the lighthouse it's a right
turn
at the first road crossing.
